Music and dance: San Andres and Providencia are famous for their Caribbean rhythms of calypso, socca, reggae, and church music. All celebrated in May in the Green Festival San Andres’s tradition of great musicians spills into contemporary music.
Some of the most famous contemporary musical artists are:
Orange Hill, mento and calypso music group: This group is the most traditional on the island, its integrants are fishermen and farmers from Orange Hill.
Creole group: One of the musical groups most representative of island mixes Gospel, Creole, and Caribbean rhythms: Calipso, Mentó, Reggae. Add Pasillos, Polkas, Zouk and Soukous, and you’ve got a one-of-a-kind sound. Here, island instruments are used to create the unique sound: the mandolin, acoustic guitar, horse jaw, maracas, and tináfono.
Hety & Zambo, A famous duo whose music is a mix of reggae, la soca, dance hall and hip hop.
DJ Buxxi: Before, he was a music producer. Now he also is a singer.
Juancho Style: Singer who is famous for his song, Me Falla
Jiggy Drama: Rapper and Composer
Elkin Robinson: Musician, singer, composer, sound engineer, producer, bass player and guitarist from Providence, Elkin Robinson interprets many genres of music and is the lead singer of Zouke Root – a group that performs internationally.

Mariamatilde Rodriguez, born in Barranquilla, now lives in San Andres and has traveled around the world representing Colombia and San Andres with her poetry, most known for her collection of poems in Los Hijos del Paisaje.
Plastic arts:
– San Andres and Providencia boast some exceptional artists including, past and present, traditional and urban: RAF, Stinfish, Wilfrido Andrés Guzmán Ortiz, Ernesto Lynton, Aurea María Oliveira Santos, Jairo Ruiz among others. There is an emerging artistic community that is breaking ground in some fantastic urban scenarios.
